April 4, 2009: Thousands march down Wall Street in New York City on the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "Beyond Vietnam" speech (delivered at the Riverside Church on April 4, 1967). Dr. King made the connections between war and poverty, between militarism and racism. The current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the worldwide economic crisis call us to act to end armed conflicts across the globe and meet human needs at home. This video follows members of the New England Health Care Employees Union, District 1199/SEIU during and after the march.
