PLEASE COMMENT! The following is part of a video-only walkthrough of "The Empire Strikes Back" title for the original Nintendo. There are ten levels total.

LEVEL 9: Return to Cloud City
As if the game weren't difficult enough, the return to Cloud City is a last act of "hazing" before reaching the final level. It's bounty-hunter city with a dozen somersaulting assassins and two versions of the three-armed Jawa. The environmental hazards of Cloud City are ramped-up as well. Fortunately, you should have all Force Powers by now (Levitate appears twice and deflect once in case you missed them). The strategy is to simply avoid all enemies and reach the end boss with enough health and Force to survive; most of the level can be levitated through and there is plenty of Force power and health to keep you going.

Most people never got through the first few levels of this flawed, but impressive NES game. As such, most online reviews and videos are done only with the first Hoth level as reference. Since few online resources even have screenshots of later levels, these videos are meant for illustrative purposes so gamers can see what they missed.

  • This is bad ass I didnt know they made Star Wars games for NES. I owned the saga for super nintendo. Then sold them along qith 12 other games and the control deck for like 50 buck a couple years ago. That was a stupid move.

  • and side-scrollers, were you couldn't see what was next.

  • 0:23 was that a metroid shriek? Sure sounded a lot like one.

Silly NES and its limited sound capacity

  • Only thing I don't like about this game from watching the videos is how the guy jumps like a freakin frog.

IT really pisses me off. Otherwise great game!

  • no this and Slave 1 are the hardest

  • Yeah...in the good ol' days before auto-maps and checkpoints!

  • It's not too bad of a game, but it is very difficult in many parts. Lots of exploring and backtracking in places.

  • How is this game? I heard it was hard but is it any good? I looks like switching force powers constantly would become really tedious.
