In Part 3, Trilbee takes a look at the best of the best as he counts down to the best/worst movies of 2011. Normally most critics would just do a top 10 or a short list but Trilbee will be ordering every movie he saw last year to let you know which movies are truly deserving and which ones are worth your hate and bile.

  • I saw I saw it too late for me to add it to the list but I just saw 'Drive'. I'd put it between 'Attack the Block' and 'Source Code'. So it missed out on the top 5. Don't get me wrong, it's a great movie. It's great a building tension and the cast is great but other than that it doesn't do anything noteworthy, but at the same time there aren't any real flaws with it. It's really good. But I won't be remembering it a year from now.

  • Black Swan: It was a fantastic movie, I'm going to have to admit that, but I just found it so so freaky. It takes quite a lot to scare me but this really did, and I suppose I should give it credit for that.

Harry Potter: How did I guess you would do that? It really really wasn't as great as you made it out to be. And it already had a cult book to base itself on, it hardly had to do any work to be good.

  • @CooperandMitchell "it hardly had to do any work to be good". That statement simply isn't true. Just because it's based on a critically acclaimed book doesn't mean a movie adaptation would automatically be good. The Godfather book is shite, but the movie is considered one of the best movies of all time. Bonfire of the Vanities is one of the most famous books of all time but the movie is HORRIBLE. Adaptations aren't easy to make, even with good source material.

  • @MrTARDISreviews But a lot the things you seem to be commending it on, "multi-layer characters", "a fleshed out world", for example, are all given to it by the book. There's no denying that JK Rowling is a fantastic author, you simply have to look at the fans it's built up all across the world for proof. But she has come up with most of the ideas and judging it against the other films you did where most of them had to come up with their own story simply wasn't fair.

  • @CooperandMitchell But fleshing them out in the context of a movie is completely different from a book. A movie is considered a 2 hour experience and the pacing is up to the director (the pacing of scenes, character arcs, everything). Whereas a book is much more flexible. You don't understand a chapter? You can go back a read it. Pacing is all up the the reader and the reader invisions the character in their mind. In a movie, the character IS the character.

  • Why black swan below rise of the planet of the apes?

lines dialogue from the planet of the rise are so dumb

  • @anakluhur Because this is MY list =)

  • did you find the found footage movie "Cloverfield" good? that's my fave

  • @mrtardisreviews where have u gone its been ages since ur last video :(

  • Good list :)

  • My opinion on your list (overall) - 1. Tangled, Gnomeo and Juliet and Kung Fu Panda 2 would be lower on my list 2. The Inbetweeners Movie, Paul, Cars 2, Johnny English Reborn and Rango would move higher on my list 3. TinTin, Sherlock 2 and The Kings Speech would stay

  • Why don't you have Trillbee Awards???

    I'd be interested!

  • I was incredibly disappointed by the film adaptations of Order of the Phoenix and Half Blood Prince, and slightly let down by Deathly Hallows part 1, but Deathly Hallows part 2 was not only the best in the series, but the best movie I've ever seen in my life, it just topped off the franchise for me and was everything I expected when I read the book for the first time four years ago, so I'm so glad it made number 1 on your list

  • Ghost protocol is just a lot of cliches thrown together

  • ::facepalm::

First, just because a movie franchise influences an entire world does not mean the films are any good. When I saw "Return of the Jedi" on May 25, 1983, I learned that, and I wasn't yet at university! Next, don't place so much stock on what the Academy thinks. Their nominees are often the reason I elect to skip the awards. When a film looks good, it's not necessarily good. (SW prequels anyone?) Finally, are these the *best* films or just your *favorite* films?

  • I thought you also saw Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy in 2011 according to your Doctor Who movie video.

  • Totally agree with you on Tin Tin.

It shows how far the "Academy" has become irrelevant in recent years.
