Or go really fast and do the Debian net-install with only what you wish to install and it runs gnome as default (KDE ) also available!!!

hey man nice video for the themes all you have to do is download a new theme i will send you several links if you want it them just drag it right in to the themes

Yes OpenSUSE and Mandriva have a much more polished KDE experience. KDE 4.1 and especially KDE 4.2 are much more usable.
In my opinion Ubuntu is to Mac Xish. I HATE APPLE :) I don't mind M$ too much. (Weird for a Linux Guy)

You can change the background... and EVERYTHING ELSE!

I tried Kubuntu for a while, but I was having some issues with it. For example, the file manager; I would attempt to move a file around in a removable drive, and it would tell me that there is a file in that folder with the same name that would be overwritten, and there wasn't. But I hear the KDE version of Ubuntu doesn't get as much polish as the Gnome version. Plus, it is all personal preference.

It's still looking very ugly. Also I personally am a KDE kind of guy. OPENSuse and Mandriva are still my preferred distros.
