the reason why canadians pay less for drugs is because we use more per person then they do on the account that when ur in hospital its all included. we buy in bulk so we are charged by volume
-
Come on David, this doesn't have to be complicated. The answer could have been..."the more RX drugs in the market the cheaper they will be; in other words, I support the idea because competition is good for capitalism and cheaper prices are good for the health of Americans."
-
am i hearing this right? he wants to destroy another countries rx system? WHAT? what is wrong here?

I am not anti-government. There are things the government does well, but VERY FEW. It was NOT the free market but the government meddling in the free market. The current healthcare "crisis" is in large part caused by the government failing to pay for Medicare patients. The cost of their care gets shifted to us.
-
@CommonSenseJoe You said that it wasn't the job of governments to provide food, housing, etc. I said that if government didn't allow for its citizens to acquire these things it doesn't survive.
This anti-government crap from the rightwing is really tiresome. . The private market has almost driven us off a cliff and it was only due to government intervention that we didn't end up in a total catastrophe.

@CommonSenseJoe The point of Cash for Clunkers was to help the automobile companies avoid bankruptcy. It wasn't to give money to anybody or to any union. In that it was successful since GM and Chrysler are still in business.
-
Tell me, how was it successful? Simply giving a way money to people does not consitute success in my judgment. It lower the value of my car and increase the cost of a used car for those who cannot afford a new car. The only people to benefit were the UAW workers that kept their jobs a little longer. Even with that, most of the cars bought were made by foreign car makers.
-
No one is suggesting we let people die in the strees or starve to death. The question is how this care is delivered to these individuals. I agree the market is distorted, but the cause IS the government, not the soluton.
-
@CommonSenseJoe Everybody thinks the Cash for Clunkers program was very successful. All except for conservatives who want to deny reality and try to convince others to deny it too.
-
@CommonSenseJoe Don't be a fool. All rational governments have tried to provide food, housing, clothes, etc for all. Only a few governments have tried to deny these things to it's citizens. Nazi Germany tried to deny these things selectively (Jews and others). This government tries to provide health care to all. It prevents hospitals from denying emergency service. It's just that the health care market in this country is incredibly distorted at this particular time.
David Vitter is a lying hypocritical douchebag. In other words the typical southern republican.

Of course Canada is doing something right. Why do Americans keep talking about how a country like Canada a has socialized medicine. Why can't Americans get over the Cold War and stop insinuating that the world "socialism" means turning into the Soviet Union. What the United States needs to do is change its attitude. If they think everything is about making a profit, nothing good will get done. In the case of their healthcare system, the true profit will be saving lives that need saving.
