A speech by Bart Ehrman at Stanford about the story behind who changed the bible and why and the history of the bible and how they got tainted. He is a former Christian bible scholar who studied the bible and found the mistakes and became an atheist. He also has another book called Jesus Interrupted.

This speech is a must see for christians who ask questions like:
Who wrote the gospels?
Is the bible the word of God?
Are there contradictions?
Does the bible contain errors?
Is there evidence or proof?

  • god has sent a new message to humanity.

ONE OF THE MANY REVELATIONS: THE WILL OF HEAVEN

    NEWMESSAGE(.ORG)

  • @Nadnetuk1 I would suggest none of them, they are all made up stores from bronze age goat herders living in the same region. Is there really a surprise that they all have similarities and the same characters? How about the older books from China and India that mention none of these things, do you consider them valid too?

  • @914light did you have to buy the book to hear what it says?? (answer: no, you heard the main points for free on youtube).

  • Furthermore, it doesn't matter if you believe his mom didn't give it up to joseph. Besides she did eventually. It simply doesn't matter. Jesus was a Jew, but he didn't care what there traditions said, he lived how he felt right. And nobody could judge him. It was a state of mind he had, a purpose, and a dedication, and he remembered who he was. That's what people lack today, knowing who they are, so they hang on someone else to tell them what to believe. But I will believe the truth.

  • This is all the reason why one book is not going to be a solid foundation for truth. oral transmission of stories is not any better or worse than written transmission. If you demand that the text be exact, then you have to throw it all out once a part deviates. If you adapt it through storytelling, oral traditions, etc, you have to understand that it is all mythology, and you can't accept any of it as fact. NONE OF THIS WAS WHAT JESUS CARED ABOUT! He doesn't care if you're a christian.

  • what's the book that was recommended?

  • @TehTaZo ..because he is must less then honest ...his motives are to sell his own book !

    Shame on him !!

  • @914light How so?

  • what are his sources for saying things like Marks gospel's most extent copy was around 200AD? Historic christianity has always said the transmission and the translations contain textual errors. So, how do we know this? The earliest copies right? What bout what Dr Bruce Metzger says about Bart's claim from John 18? What are Bart's Sources for saying P52 dates are such and such? Are people even interested anymore in checking the claims of both christian scholars and their nonbelievers claims?

  • this dude is full of nonsense !
