My dear neighbor, Mrs. W., age 94m told me of her first experience with segregation, in the 1950's, when she visited the Washington DC area from her hometown in the North.

  • What a wise woman. If only people knew what it felt like to be discriminated against. I really don't think they would treat others in that manner. When I think about the times racist remarks were directed at me, if makes tears sting my eyes even today and I am now 61 years old. To hear people say, don't play the race card makes me cringe because folks still have those cards in their decks and use them even in 2011. We must never take racism lightly. It destroys the spirit.

  • Wise lady. The water is the same.
