I am a Star Trek fan (I have seen all the movies and various tv shows) and I will admit that this was the best Trek movie since Khan. It has energy, lightness and sexiness that has not been seen since the TOS. The first time Kirk sat in the command chair I was reminded by William Shatner's line from Generations:"As long as you sit in that in chair, you can make a difference." Awesome moment.

This was good as a standalone movie but essentially it was a Star Trek movie made for Star Wars fans who had never seen Star Trek.

To all those who want to avoid the giant religious argument going on here, I sum up the review of the movie:

Nice summer action no brainer, but has little in common with the franchise if you seek a deep meaningful movies like previous ones.
