Nikon d40 being compared to Nikon d70 Nikon d200 and Leica M7. This was done to show how small the Nikon d40 is compared to other cameras. This also shows the D40 with the Nikon 18-200mm Vr lens which is hard to find on the internet so I put some pics on. There is also plenty of room for your fingers with this lens which has been a concern with such a small camera but i have found it fine.

  • How many focus points does the D70 have?

  • 5 points

  • No motor to run older lenses =:-(

  • I know its a bit of a problem for some people but manual focus is not that bad. With $8000 for rangerfinders you dont get people complaning about manual focus. It depends on how you and what you photograph. I would use my 18-200mm VR anyday over my 11+y old 70-210mm.

  • is is better thn d60s?

  • i have D70S and its great : ")

  • d70 still shines though. d40 or d60 are toys for mom and kids in comparison.

  • whoa its a leica!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I had D40 then changed to D70. Both are definitely gd cams that cater to diff needs. D40 allows nice picture with little understanding of techniques. However, D70 is the "thing" to set u learning photography...settings/post process/ details and all... I was using D40 though very happy with it, I felt smhow handicapped after awhile as it lacks other settings compared to D70..esp the motor and Ael function.

  • I'd take the D70 over the D40 or D40x anytime. D40 is a low end camera, whereas D70 is close to mid-range DSLR. Also, I very much prefer the outside design and the prims comer shape on the D70. In fact, it's my favorite desing of all Nikon cameras, new or old. My favorite Nikon cameras are D70s and D700. Other Nikonw cameras I don't care about at all.

  • D5000

  • what is better d40x or d70 ?

  • Good comparison! The D40 is so small and light that it gets very uncomfortable to use. It feels like you're holding a plastic toy camera IMO.
