Maria Barientos has been one of the best Spanish sopranos and has nothing to envy to the great universal sopranos of any time. Spain and Barcelona are proud of her.
Vincenzo Bellini, born in Catania, Italy, is considered the master of melody. In 2001 worldwide, cultural broad casting stations, paid high tribute to this musician, in the 200th anniversary of his birth.
"Qui la voce" is a musical piece, whose melody and softness are an example of what good music is.

  • SUBLIME!!!!

  • HERMOSA INTERPRETACION

  • Sorry, I just noticed the recording date is 1918.

  • I prefer Barrientos' singing of the cavatina to that of the cabaletta. Her beautiful light and dark tone, pure legato, and gentle pathos in "Qui la voce" are a joy. The "Vien diletto" is also well sung, marred only by those scales with the customary vowel shift (not aspirates), yet fluent and expressive nonetheless. A great artist! I take it this recording is one of the later ones when she was in her thirties.
