Vintage ARRL ham radio movie. Converted from 16mm film to video tape many years ago, and now from that ancient VHS to digital. Enjoy the flickering screen, and especially the funky organ music backgrounds! heavy focus on morse code, which of course is no longer a requirement.

  • What a completely pointless hobby this has become. Nowadays ham radio is full of old grumpy retired guys who have nothing better else to do with their time/money, or weirdo "whackers"

  • @c0deMunkey Odd. I'm not retired or grumpy. The number of licensees has just topped 700,000, more than ever in the history of ham radio. Yes, there are some weirdos, but I can find weirdos in any hobby or group. Hobbies do not have to have a "point" as long as you enjoy them.

  • OK so thats like saying the cops are to busy with bank robers so it is OK to speed drive drunk and run people down because they don't enforce traffic laws so lets just do what ever we feel like doing. Grow up, radio is a privilege not a right. do what you will do on CB but stay off the Ham bands or you will be found and shut down if you are unlicensed.

  • well all us americans do talk skip to every country in the word skip dx with 4 watts , 12 WATTS AND 1000 or 10000 watts! aint that america baby the so called law is not encorced since 911 cuz the gov has better things to do then cb or ham radio so cb is the new ham in america and no bithch fag is gona tell us how to use our radio anymore so love us or dont talk to us but u will hear us on the ham band and u cant do shit about it!

  • @cbballbreaker1900 Your CB station transmitter power output must not exceed AM [Amplitude Modulation] - 4 watts 12 watts ssb. It is illegal to:

.[11] to communicate with stations in other countries, except stations in Canada (on General Radio Service). 6 To communicate with, or attempt to communicate with, any CB station more than 250 kilometers (155.3 miles) away

  • cb is 11 meter a former ham band with dx and all that it is a good bootcamp for future ham operators

  • Nice video from the old days

  • @barett1962 Most of today have an IQ less than 50. Most dont know the difference between a capacitor and a resistor. And im saying this lightly!

  • @TheZeke1974 yes but the CB operators of today ( most anyway) have no place in ham radio unless thy actually take time to learn the difference. CB isn't what it used to be either.

  • @barett1962 Well i would have never gotten into ham radio if it wasnt for CB. 3/4 of the new hams today are/were CB ops. Where else are we going to get new hams?

  • @barett1962 They will never go back to the "old ways" in this day in age of political correctness. In all fairness there isnt much we can do for the hobby anymore...

  • @c0deMunkey WHAT!! Im NOT retied, am 38 years old and am NOT a whacker. I resent that comment!
