Fort Ord army base in California had a large number of murals painted by the soldiers stationed there. Many have been lost to redevelopment or demolition, but I have tried to photograph as many of the surviving ones as possible in the time I have been at CSU Monterey Bay. This is nowhere near all, but a few of the most impressive that I have photographed so far.

  • Thank you for the video. After almost 20 years I went back last summer and the sadness I felt could fill Monterey Bay. I wish Infantry Hill could just be bulldozed down and used for something productive instead of remaining standing like a skeletal specter of its past.

    Wolfhounds!

  • I am a former member of the 8th EVAC Hospital. I remember one of those from the early 80's.

  • I was here in 1970 for Basic and AIT, leaving in March 1971 before going to Vietnam and I don't recall the murals. Must have happened in the 80s I suspect.

  • I remember seeing some of these while I was at Ft Ord, Thanks from an old Lightfighter.
