  • Yeah this guy wrote Ghost Story and Shadowland and If you could see me now. For me that makes him one of the fantastic four. Stephen King, Dan Simmons, Clive Barker and Peter Straub. Thank you Mr. Straub for your brilliant tales, I am forever your fan.

  • The Throat is one of the most brilliant novels I have ever read.

  • Stephen King is probably the greatest storyteller the world has ever seen..But he ain't Peter Straub.

  • I bought Koko, Mystery and Shadowland for £2 in a heart foundation shop last week, bloody bargain! i'd snog the cashier if only she was'nt 70! lol

Im halfway through "Mystery" and im truly enjoying. My Magnificent seven are Tim Willocks, John Connolly, Stephen King, Clive Barker, James Ellroy, Nick stone & last but not least, Peter.S :)

the question 'Does Straub write better than King', i think thats unanswerable lol King and Straub both have their good points and bad. Mostly good though :P

  • I highly recommend checking out his weird take on miracles in "Little Red."

  • I just finished Shadowland, it's absolutely great, but sad. I've read lots of Straub's novels, he likes really sad endings. But I love his work.

  • I'm almost done reading 'Shadowland' - it's very great. (First Straub book for me too) I would definitely say he's right up there w/ King. 'Shadowland' would make a great movie.

  • Half way through my first Straub book "shadowland". New Fav writer. Similar to King. Does anyone think one writes better than the other?

  • I could not agree with you more on that one. This man is a brilliant, wonderful storyteller.

  • woo hoo! on so much in here.

I only knew Peter Straub from his co-written novel with Stephen King "The Talisman" but he is terribly funny and engaging here so I want to check out so much more!
