Posted by http://www.remembersarowiwa.com/ -- a short introductory clip from a documentary by Glenn Ellis charting the history of the Ogoni struggle against Shell and the Nigerian government in the early 1990s. With rare footage from Ogoni land and beyond.
Where else can you find a film that combines the brutal military Paul Okuntimo, Queen Elizabeth II,
The film features an astonishing range of people, from Ogoni villagers, activist and writer Ken Saro-Wiwa, then British Prime Minister John Major, Michael Birnbaum QC, and the then head of Shell in Nigeria, Brian Anderson. All these people were involved in the execution of Saro-Wiwa and his eight colleagues on 10th November 1995, which sent global shockwaves of anger at the human cost of Nigerian oil.

  • Growing up in cameroon as ibo boy in a very mixed community in cameroon oh good old days, as a kid i didnt know much about ken saro wiwa until his unfortunate murder by those who love what they get from a land but hate the people of the land to the bone that they apply all sort of tactics including all means posible like making sure tribal or ethnic hatred keeps getting worst in that region.Yet ppl are more interested in blaming each other, and making their real and common enemies plans easy.

  • KEN saro WIWA the ANTI IGBO, the very people who made him .

The Ogony are Igbos, but SABOTAGED the BIAFRAN ARMY and had them massacred by Nigerian soldiers.

OGONI thought that the HAUSA MAN loved him, but it is too late to realise they only wanted OIL.

OGONI, SORRY MY BROTHERS, YOU FOUGHT TO ADMIT THE ENEMY, YOU MADE YOUR BEDS and you have seen what the BEAST can do.

Your destiny and that of every Igbo man, woman and child lie together. JOIN your brothers and FIGHT D BEAST

  • they are heroes !! Unsung heroes !

  • Oh, 'A Forest of Flower' is a brilliant work of litterature. Many hilarious and touching pieces are found in that book.

I have a heart, so I shed a tear for the Ogoni Nine.

I have a mind, so I fight with all oppressed peoples.

    One,

    - Brother Chimaobi
