a LOVE poem

A public service announcement for an incredible organization called LOVE (Leave Out ViolencE).
The poem is by my friend Morgan Jones, a youth member of LOVE. The music is by Blonde Redhead.

"I told myself I wouldn't cry,
because tears tell the story of a sinner.
And my story is to be left untold.
So I reversed my tears and cried
on the inside.
Looking at my reflection I no longer saw
myself.
I saw a distorted perception of who
everyone else wanted me to be.
Death turned my innocent whispers
into thunderous screams.
and Love turned my screams
into Art.
I no longer had to hide from what I was feeling.
Step by step I rebuilt my mind
stitching up the tears in my heart.
It was Love that healed my soul
and turned my pain
into Art."
