You can just duplicate the text layer then flip it vertically, then obviously put down under the original text then use the rectangle selection tool thingy to select half of the text and right click and choose feather(30 pixels) then press delete atleast 3 times just make sure to rasterize the duplicated layer, then finally change the opacity to like 50% and BOOM! :)

The best way to do this is to convert the original image or layer to a smart object, duplicate that smart object (CTRL+J), then add a layer mask to the newly duplicated layer and apply the same effect to the layer mask as seen on the video (with the brush). Why a smart object? Because duplicated smart objects are linked (although you can also duplicate them without linking them). If you edit the contents of one, both will be updated. Also, you don't have to rasterize the layer.

where did you get the background image from?

Using the eraser is an awfully destructive technique to use. It's far better to use a layer mask instead.

This is a lovely simple tutorial bro!!!

can someone explain why my eraser tool only seems to fade stuff slightly as opposed to actually erasing? Thanks.

i never knew about the shift trick, ive always wanted to know that also

"cmd/ctrl + J" to copy and paste to a new layer is faster.
And I agree that using a gradient mask might produce a better result
I got fucking scared shitless by the logo popping up at the end.
My damned heart skipped a beat!

I usually use masks whenever I can, I prefer to mask it and then use a a black to white gradient (Linear) to give it that reflection look.. Both are good methods.
