i am obsessed with Deftones, favorite band for over a decade now, and i must say that ( in my opinion ) when chino got heavier, his voice suffered a little bit, possibly he just had less energy, but NOW... he's lean and mean again and he sounds FUCKING KILLER!!!! check out the "diamond eyes" live shows, you'll see, he's back in an amazing way (though he never left)

He does.

You need to go watch some more of their live vids. He does it oftne live, even in the older stuff from like 96. He did it back then too.

And it's in a lot of their stuff.

And he adds lots of variety.

He doesn't really do this weak. The recorded one has more clarity in sound than obviously a live stage performance. Studio trickery brought out his voice more on record like it does with anyone else. But in terms of actual sound of the vocals, Chino sounds much more freakish in this performance. The vocals for this performance are more inhuman then what was done on the actual record.

This squeel is so interesting. I find it refreshing - honestly It sounds a lot better than pure screaming. Perhaps he should integrate the squeel more into their music and add some more variety.
