@wrotenwasp His real name is Ross Bagdasarian, Sr. but he portrayed the name Dave Seville for his liberty record contract. He is also the creators of Alvin & the Chipmunks. His son however Ross Bagdasarian, Jr. was the voice of Dave and the Chipmunks in the animated series from 1983. :)

@Rockhound6165 Alvin and the Chipmunks was made by Ross Bagdasarian, Sr. Who portrayed Dave Seville. Ross Bagdasarian, Sr. Is the original singer of this song and recorded it in 1958, then redid it in 1960 speeding up his voice to make the sounds of the Chipmunks. The Chipmunks had an album out but he wanted to include this song on their 2nd album, Sing again with the Chipmunks.

The newer versions of this song, are not good at all. I remember having an old lp from the 50's that had a collection of songs on it and this was one of them. Wish I kept that old lp. It had the chart toppers from the late 50's. Thanx for putting this up. I'd be so disappointed if I couldn't find the original.

There was a woman who sung this song, I believe that was the ultimate oringinal of this song. But this sounds more like the first one with Alvin and the Chipmunks as the way I remember it.
I don't know why this says it's by Alvin and the Chipmunks because this pre-dates the Chipmunks.

Yeah, Dave Seville-1958. All the other versions I've found on Utube suck. Nothing else has that classic 50's sound.
