Winner: Boogie Warriors

"This was a losing battle to begin with even before anybody had reached the stage yet. After Boogie Warriors' win over Flip and Schooled impressed the Judges and after eCSentric's run in with Popcorn placed them on the Judges' bottom list as "not hip hop" it was evident who would've won even before the music had even begun to play. Boogie Warriors had this one in the bag. of course with that said it doesn't take away from the boogie warriors one bit since they really showed off their savvy for the Hip Hop foundations and their groove just got everyone bouncing, attributes deserving of ROOTS hip hop battle champions.

so where does that leave eCSentric crew? battling for their lives. with the Judges against them, the crowd in the enemy's favor, and the screw up in the sound system there was little eCSentric could do... or was it? those rounds, up to the last stretch Remove and Bom brought it. while Phil and Ian dazzled us with their wide array of Hip Hop fundamentals, Ryuji and Bom gave the stage something it has never seen before. moves that were in none of the hip hop books, steps no one seems to be able to categorize, and a flow that was both musical and innovative even in the absence of music.

eCSentric fought that battle to the wire. after all that, nothing could destroy their spirit, still maintaining that ultimate confidence in themselves is what these guys did. in my eyes they shined. this battle was meant to be a showcase of Hip Hop but my boys here... they DANCED. they didn't care. and i didn't want them to care. all they needed to do was be who they are, 'coz no one can beat you at being yourself, its all a question on how far YOU can go.

a little trivia: we don't care about dance styles or whatever styles you can box and call your own. we just dance.

when people hear funk songs they LOCK.
when people hear electro funk they POP.
when people hear rap and gang tracks they do HIP HOP.
when people hear krump tracks they KRUMP.

but for eCSentric:

when we hear funk we DANCE.
when we hear electro funk we DANCE.
when we hear rap and gang tracks we DANCE.
when we hear krump tracks we DANCE.

people sometimes avoid funk music because they can't Lock or Pop. some avoid house tracks 'coz they can't do House. WE don't. whatever music there is, we dance. we don't care how you categorize what we do 'coz there are only two things that exist for us when we dance: MUSIC and SELF. that's all.

in the end Boogie Warriors went onto winning the ROOTS championship. a well deserved win that is, without a doubt, worthy of ROOTS."

WTF happened to the sounds? that's some serious fuck up! X( shoulda went another round. but i think boogie warriors had that swagg down. wish me and my SF boys can come down and battle in the PI sometime. LOL congrats to the boog warriors! <:D
