Tsk, tsk. The U.S. (President Wilson) did NOT declare war on Germany after the sinking of the Lusitania. The U.S. finally had to change their pacifistic stance and enter into the war after the "Zimmerman Telegram" was intercepted and decoded by the British (Jan. 1917). The Zimmerman telegram was essentially an offer by Germany's Foreign Minister, Arthur Zimmerman, to come to Mexico's aid and return lost Mexican lands if the Mexicans would agree to enter the war against the U.S.

Damn right the rumour is true, churchill gave orders that put her in danger, they knew the approx position of a u boat as it had sunk a few ships in the Irish sea. it isn't conspiracy its fact. If you think government leaders won't kill you for polical ends you're a bloody rube. Bob sure avoided that question by saying England is not guilty lol he knows better than to sqawk on TV

Great video thanks, I too am a big fan of Dr. Ballard and love reading his books and this ship is especially interesting to me.

@Tony63909 No i agree with him....they should be left at the wreck as a piece of history that was sunk with the ship because all the artifacts belonged to people and that is that person's grave site.

I love Mr. Ballard, but I seriously disagree with his point that bringing up artifacts from historic wrecks is equal to grave robbing. Bringing up artifacts gives those that appreciate history a chance to feel the history of the people involved in these maritime tragedies.

very interesting thank you
Excellent video. This was aired in October 1995. Robert Ballard had just explored the wreck of the Britannic two weeks prior to this in September and his new book about the Lusitania wreck was released on October 9th 1995.
