I pitchpoled a low-end hobie something on loch tay back solo on the wire when I was 17. JUst about the scariest sailing experience of my life. Trumped only by broaching a 33ft Moody up west coast of Scotland after it stopped answering the helm due to a gust and extreme weather helm. When small boats capsize it's trivial. A 33ft keelboat rounding up to windward suddenly then broaching felt like the end of the world.
Gotta luv sailing.
:-)
Luv and Peace.

get further back on the boat, that won't happen.

Thanks for posting. Sorry, but I just pissed myself laughing. I hope that you're looking back and doing the same. This has happened to me too.

I cant imagine that is the best boat for Salcombe! Surprised you pitch poled Salcombe always seams to have nice flat water, where in the harbour was this cant make it out in the vid

amateurs, all the gear no idea. let go off the handles on the wire!
-
Dont hold the handles on the trap, it means you only have one hand free, which is not enough if your are properly pushing the boat, and you look like total idiots holding the handle. Make sure your main is uncleated all the time so you can easily dump if you need to.

i learned that the hardway lol.

i found that out the cold and wet way =]
It's North of all the moored boats about two thirds of the way from Salcombe to Kingsbridge. There's a bay both to the North East and to the West at the point we did this. I think it's locally known as the bag, or sack or some such...

Why is she hanging on to the wire the whole time???

Mostly because we're moving from big boats (72 foot) to stupid fast cats, and as you can see, we're not quite there yet!
