After leaving the Rage Against the Machine concert at the Denver Coliseum and winding through LoDo, a crowd of several thousand protesters reached the Auraria Campus at about 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The march, organized by Iraq Veterans Against the War, was led by about 100 veterans in military duds who walked three hours across Denver.
Using a bullhorn, the veterans told the crowd and a throng of reporters and photographers about what they'd seen in Iraq, and why they disagree with the war effort. They said they were waiting to meet with Barack Obama to talk about withdrawal from Iraq.
"This is what we're fighting for: no more torture, no more war!" the protesters chanted.
Meanwhile, police monitored the situation on motorcycle, on foot and on horseback.
The group crossed the campus, then marched toward the Pepsi Center on Seventh Avenue after hundreds of police in riot gear who steered them around a corner. The crowd occupied three car lanes and stretched at least 200 yards down the closed avenue.
After spending nearly an hour at the barricade on the Auraria Parkway, protesters began to leave. The crowd dissipated at about 7 p.m.
Call GOP contributor and war contractor General Electric Corporation at 800 386 1215 and tell the person, that you want the GE CEO to get Bush to end the war in Iraq and then Bush resign with Cheney and until that happens you will not buy any GE products and that you will tell your friends. Then call a local appliance store that sells GE products and tell the person you will not buy any GE products from their store until they can convince the GE CEO to convince George W Bush to end the war.
