After numerous spy shots and a long teaser campaign, Ford has officially unveiled the 2011 Explorer. Looking like a Taurus-ifed Freestyle, the Explorer features a bold grille, black A-pillars, plastic body cladding, and a clamshell hood. Inside, the cabin boasts a Volkswagen-ish design, a console-mounted shifter, and seating for up to seven.

  • too many crossovers :( i want to see a real suv

  • I think its hot and I really want one. KIA's look like cheap crappy cars, the new Explorer does not. In an effort to actually sell vehicles, I think they made a very smart move.

  • What an ugly piece of crap. The new Durango and the Jeep Grand Cherokee make this look like a generic Jap copy. I don't know why ford has to put that coral fence grill on this and the trucks.

  • @democrat09

No offence but that thing is butt ugly, the era of the ugly automobile is over.

  • @ScottyG124 Yur this thang is hot alright.

  • @Hummers222

gotta get a open back truck like a f-150 etc for a SUV experience now.

  • "Hang on kids here comes speed bump"

  • @Hummers222 The 2011 Explorer is a SUV, check it out, Search on YouTube: 2011 Ford Explorer: SUV or CUV?

  • if you want a true 4x4 suv, body on frame, not this crossover minivan looking crap, check out the 2011 toyota 4runner, best in its class!

  • I like the fact that this has it's own style

It doesn't look like a minivan, or another SUV

But the A-pillars should be body-color

Blacking out the pillars should be for a Sport model, or special edition

Body-color pillars would tie the design together

Light years better than the current one!

  • @chacopal yes! that thing was a beast!

  • @Hummers222 bring back the ford excursion.
