Here are some hang gliding clips of hang gliding lessons at Jockey's Ridge State Park through Kitty Hawk Kites. Kitty Hawk Kites is the oldest and largest hang gliding school in the world. Teaching the world to fly since 1974! We are located in Nags Head, North Carolina on the Outer Banks. For more information visit www.kittyhawk.com
I've done that before... It's a LOT harder than it looks. In my five flights I couldn't seem to get a single good landing in! But hang gliding is a whole lot of fun... it may be something I'd like to pursue if I was able to get better.

Most people are tourist and and want to have a quick thrill. When i took lessons there and i ask the instructor about starting on the base tube and she said if you crash it is less forgiving. I got my Hang 1 with the Eaglets they're not that bad. After I got my H1 i was on a falcon the very next day. KHK rocks

much admiration for KH. But why start students with bad takeoff technique ex: hands on base tube right from the start???? Never the right way to launch. why inspire a bad habit from the get-go?

Having trained on several different kind of gliders...I can say that the gliders used at KHK actually make it easier for students to learn. They are very stable, slow flying gliders. They are a perfect match for the soft sand dunes and smooth coastal winds at the training site.

I taught lessons at KHK for 8 years. I personally gave over 40,000 flight. I had 1 injury (broken wrist) out of all those flights. 3/4 of them were on those gliders (Eaglets). They also use Falcon 1's and 2's and have a large quiver of gliders at the airport operation including topless gliders.
Many of the US schools for hang gliding started with instructor's from Kitty Hawk Kites. They all learned on similar gliders.

They have taught over 300,000 people. I am sure there is a reason for those gliders.
They are great for first timers which is most of their students. The gliders keep them safe and give them a great fun flight! They do use other gliders for those who are training to be pilots. Like in clip 5:

Why don't you buy a more modern training glider - like an Airborne Fun? That glider looks like you've been using it since 1974, that must make it a lot harder for the students to learn.
