Great White Shark eats a Petrel

Video taken on 9th July 2011 in the Neptune Islands, South Australia. We were underwater in the cage for about 20 minutes when a petrel landed on the water surface... less than 10 seconds later, the Petrel was lunch.

cool!! i've seen them trying to eat seagulls at guadalupe, but only from the boat and they always failed, you where really lucky to see it underwater and so close, thanks for posting!

Wow. I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've seen footage of a white shark eating a seabird. Not a good day for the petrel, but an amazing catch on video. Nicely done.

Holy Petrel Batman! Nice catch on video mate. Well done you. That Bird didnt know what hit him. Damn that was quick. Amazing how you see the great white flick its massive tail to excelerate right before the attack. Yikes. Sends chills down my spine...but totally mesmerizing at the same time. Definitely want to do this! Trying to decide where tho. Australia? South Africa? Or Guadalupe Island?

@wuweiwarrior The guys at Calypso in Port Lincoln, South Australia were awesome... They kept the whole day amusing, and we all had a good laugh when my girlfriend dropped her cell phone in the water and then asked who wanted to go in and get it.... I'm definitely keen to go back and do it again - amazing experience...
