Here's the link to get the free software you can use to convert your video to a stereo FLV. It's an easy program to learn. I use it quite a lot.

In his example, he uses some settings (like framerate=30) that have not worked for me. So you might want to do some experimenting to see what works for you.

If anyone has more helpful hints just let me know and I will put them here in this description.

adding the characters &fmt=18 (without spaces) to a URL is supposed to improve the sound by allowing you to watch a higher quality version, if one is available. Not sure, but I think that affects the image quality rather than the audio.

If you go to some of SheenaMelwani's videos, and att & fmt=18, you will hear youtubes mp4 conversion, which is in high quality video and stereo. That is why I recommend musicians upload in high quality formats, not FLV. I bet its only a few months until HQ is fully implemented on Youtube.

I've watched a few of your vids now and on everyone you change either the bit rate, size etc not one is consistant with the previous vid. Even with the link on the right with the converter the rates are different to what you recommend here. What are the highest acceptable settings?

Hi Doc, love that song, very Beatlesque. youtube is storing everything in both low quality flv and high quality and stereo H264 (mp4) format now, and it is what they download to iPods. So a high quality video upload will look and sound very good with &fmt=18. But the low quality mono will still be the default. For now I just mention the &fmt=18 param in the video notes.

We need to start the revolution right here. High Quality stereo default mode for everyone! Viva La Stereo!

you genius, I had been trying to convert with AVC on too high settings and it failed, now I'm getting a stereo vid up, BTW your own bitrate sounds good quality, thanks Ned
