Gordo The Skateboard King

Gordon Auchinachie aka "Gordo" or "Gondo Man" was a well known Australian skateboarder of the 1990's.

"The Skateboard King" was a nickname coined by the Channel 10 Level 23 show circa '93. It annoyed Gordo at the time, but in retrospect he finds it cool.

"When the show came out I was bummed and copped a bit of flak about it, but when I look back at it now it's classic"- Gordo.

Gordo rose to fame in the Australian skateboarding world, accumulating a slew of sponsors, appearing in tv commercials, a TV interview, on many Australian skateboarding videos. Interviews have appeared in newspapers and magazines, he's produced a video clip, a famous Australian skateboarding video called "Plebs" and rose to the title as editor of Australian Skateboarding Magazine at the age of 23. He even had his own segment on Foxtel's V TV show.

In 1999 his life went pear shaped in a violent moment of passion fueled insanity. Things went downhill from there and left him in a state of depression for nearly a decade.

Then one night about 3:00am in the morning early in 2007, on a random street corner in Bondi, and while drunk, he was led in a life changing prayer with Legend Skateboarders Christian Hosoi and Sid Tapia and took Jesus as his lord and saviour.

Since that night his life has turned around. By the grace of God, his faith in Christ has freed him from a 22 year alcohol addiction, drug addiction, and a cycle of violence to name a few.

"All I did was listen to those guys and all they did was point to Jesus. I saw the power of God on them and simply 'Believed'. I said the prayer and started reading scriptures and the word of God transformed me. The more I got to know the love of God, things that binded me in past just started to break off. My life is now dedicated to sharing the Gospel, the good news about knowing Christ".
