Exclusively for our You Tube Channel, the fourth Doctor Who Tom Baker reads Stanley Holloway's famous monologue 'the Battle of Hastings'. The illustrations in this video were provided by a talented local art student from Hastings College! I could listen to Tom Baker reading just about anything. His voice could soothe angels.

A little too pro-Norman in its tenure as far as I'm concerned. The tourist industry in this part of the world touts it as "1066 Country - where English history began". How they came to that conclusion is anyone's guess. The loss of the English to a foreign power does not constitute the beginning of English history, but rather the beginning of a cruel, bloody, foreign overlord. We'd had 600+ years of English history before William the Bastard came. I for one do not celebrate his coming.
