That was magical... thank you for a most enjoyable video set to a great soundtrack! Brings back such memories of lovely Wallasey before the rot set in. How wonderful to see the old Liscard Co-Op again! I was only a child when it disappeared x
Really nice set of photographs and well put together, I have lots of fond memories of New Brighton in the 70's the open air baths and the arcade/funfair been the most vivid. Thanks
@thyreth22 unless you live in wallasey you would not of they live in wallasey town hall they are why new brighton is the way it is now where new brighton baths was we now have a new supermarket to go with the other three
Going to New Brighton as a child was a really big adventure 7 kids my Mum the neighbour and her kids travelling from Huyton Quarry. With our meat spread Butties and pop off we went and we would spend the day on the beach. I never knew that there was a fair or an out door swimming pool until I grew up we just never had the money to venture off the sand ... But Oh what adventures we had.
What a nostalgic journey in pictures! Some of us are actually desperate to try and amass as many colour photos as possible of New Brighton's various fun fairs (the indoor Palace Amusements / The Bright Spot / the two smaller outdoor kiddies' funfairs at the Floral Pavilion gardens and next to the Marine Lake/ the Hi-Slide and the old Tivoli / Pier buildings), but there seems to be so few of them..... we really regret now not taking any pics of the Palace when we had the chance.....
Wonderful...I MUST be on there somewhere....check out "The Wirral Song" on youtube....and I've posted a few more (also new Brighton fairground)..there are 2 types of people in the world...those who live on Wirral and those who wish they did.
And now 98% of the things in these photos are gone and thanks to Angela Eagle we are left with nothing but 2p machines and serial killer who goes by the name "The Wallasey Clown".
