I have made a 9m fishing pole antenna the same. I use it at ground level with a earth rod and a mfj atu. I can tune it from 160m, tone deaf, to 10m. it works ok on 30m 40m, I nearly worked Brazil on 20m but the Wildlife was too crazy as they kept calling over me, all this was on psk31. I will have to wait until 10 is open to see how its doing. No prolems working europe. If your stuck for space its worth ago. my 8m tele pole was £11. earth rod was £5. 9m wire was £3. 73's David

Could you tell more about the antenna? Did it work ok to transmit? On what bands?
