Our Schools: Safe or Not?

In the summer of 2007, the New York Civil Liberties Union partnered with youth from three community organizations -- Future of Tomorrow, Make the Road New York and Youth on the Move -- to produce three short documentaries on student experience with the over-policing of New York City schools and the School to Prison Pipeline. The NYCLU supported the youth in creating their own videos using their own words and footage.

I didn't like it cause it did nothing at all.

who hires the teachers I mean there great but I'd prefer a teacher who actually disciplines bullies. Maybe something like a soldier

I served three years in NYPD School Safety Division, and must say that had I not moved to North Carolina (Greensboro) that I would still be with them. I'm an Accountant by profession, but had the most fulfilling years ever in public service as a School Safety Officer. I served with School Safety Officers who were truly New York's Finest. I love my brothers and sisters in the NYPD School Safety Division. the 47, the 114, the 1st Precincts and all of NYPD. Truely the best in Law Enforcement.

ok if school are so safe then y are there still shootings y are there still fights and this might seem unreal but in larger cities there is still drug and arms dealing in school. now at my school we have fights and people selling things like pot and knives and when they search lockers they hardly find anything. i don't feel safe in school even when there is a cop in the room, this is for one reason the cops don't so shit for you saftey wise.

I agree they the school saftey agents(in louisana we call then resource officers) they dont do anything they dont treat you with respect

metal dectors dont do notin if somone wnats to cause harm they will find a way
