Aspartame, it is a non-nutritive sweetener, that's it. Yet critics and conspiracy theorists smear its image using various forms of media - like this video - making claims devoid of real scientific evidence and clinical research. Aspartame has been the subject of scrutiny in scientific research projects for 38 years and has been approved safe for consumption independently in over 90 countries. If it were as unsafe as this documentary claims, the people of the world would be aware of it by now.

If people had these diseases before aspartame, how are we to know the degree to which it alone is directly causing these things? When also considering the emergence of other "bad" things which could be playing a role as well. Seems like a very difficult thing to measure accurately. Like microwaves are "bad", but even if I stood in front of one every day for years it is unlikely that I would get cancer from it. So I'm speaking to the science behind the claims here and elsewhere against aspartame.
