Circumcision Nightmares?

Dan Bolliger describes horrific night terrors that reoccurred throughout his life. He wonders if they may have started in infancy from his experience of circumcision.

I can relate to this. My nightmares were triggered when I started breaking the issue down, and just like child abuse my night terrors were not something that I could describe in any words or anything that would make sense literally, but were intense fear, terror, anger and struggle. I dealt with them for many nights and am glad that they eventually ended.

Thank you to Dan and James for your willingness to expose the horror of what we are doing to our precious babies behind closed doors, and how the painful, traumatic,and terrororizing experience of genital cutting affects the babies, the children, and the men they become. As more and more courageous men stand up in their own defense and in defense of those yet to be born, we will see an end to this anachronistic blood ritual that has no place in civilized society!

My husband has been waking up in the middle of the night like this for years. He is in sheer terror and he doesn't know why. I wonder if it's connected. That is interesting information.

What a powerful story! I can't understand how societal tradition can have such power over people to cause them to think something so obviously wrong is "beneficial." I always thought it insane to have part of a newborn's penis amputated, and am so thankful I think for myself! We have genitally WHOLE sons! :) One did have night terrors, but he had a gentle homebirth, breastfed, not left to cry, and no other early traumas, so I don't know what caused them. He seems to have outgrown them now.

very believable, i also experienced night terrors and also bed wetting when i was 5 or 6 and it sounds like i've found the culprit...as well as severe anger/rage issues that only manifested and got stronger when i learned about circumcision. everything sort of fell into place there..i literally can't wait for the bastard who performed it to die so i can go piss on his grave.

This is very interesting, I was notorious to my parents for having night terrors. It seems very very plausible that forced circumcision is the cause.

I wish we'd all been spared this outrage. But I suppose I'm somewhat comforted that I am not alone in having these kinds of dreams. I frequently, in these dreams, have a much larger penis than I do in real life. Then, for no adequately explained reason, most of it sloughs off and there is something left resembling a tiny chili pepper. I used to think it was mere castration anxiety, but I have the most exceptional memory, and I wonder if it was innate even then. A symbolic memory of circumcision.
