The Swimming Pool Q's were a pioneering new wave band and very popular in Atlanta GA in the 1980s. This perfomance was videotaped by the Access Atlanta Public Access TV Group in 1980. The video is from the collection of Mister Richardson

  • @iamarocketshipmusic Elsey is great....This video appears to be at the 688. I Remember the pole that Elsey stands behind during that incredible solo on Restless Youth. I have a DVD of Elsey playing tandum guitars with his teacher and guru, fellow Atlanta genius Glenn Philips, with The Hampton Grease Band in 1995 at their reunion concert. One of the greatest live performances I have ever seen. You can buy it from Glenn Phillip's website

  • @mikecaz1 Her name is Anne Richmond Boston....Rleased a solo record around 1990 you can still find on Amazon.."The Little House of Time"

  • This is fabulous. As I've commented elsewhere, I saw them in Gainesville, FL in '78 or '79 and was blown away. Saw them twice in NYC in the '80s and they did not disappoint either time. Friends I dragged to see them couldn't believe they weren't nationally-known. I still can't believe they never broke through.

  • No one wants to get into a head-cutting competition with Elsey. If he'd decided to be in a hair-metal band he'd have been famous... but what a fun band!

  • Early Q's....love it. Bob Esley was a monster guitar player even then. Anne and Jeff, just a dynamic singing duo. ♥ I transferred my 80's LPs to a playlist on my MySpace page (link is on my YouTube profile) if people want to relive. Not sure how long I'll keep it up because I change playlists every so often.

  • I saw them many times in B'ham just a hrs. drive from my town. Even drove to Atl. to see them once.A great fun band! The best show in my memory was at the Nick! Great show Jeff! I have all there LP's a few of their CD's from back in the day. Who else would sing about a tractor? Thanks for the memories!

  • Had the pleasure of seeing them TONIGHT at the Candler Park Music Festival. Great show, and terrific rendition of "Rat-Bait". I laughed, I cried, I hurled.

  • ps Thanks for the vid. Anyone have the TV version of The Bells Ring?

  • I saw them all over Nashville. My fave was on the lawn at Vandy's Rights of Spring. Blue Tomorrow is one of the most radio ready Lps ever ignored.

  • This is rich.
