  • im not sure about an actual mini horse...petey is a mini shetland... if your mini is a cross im sure its fine... hopping on them every once in a while for a few min wont kill them.. lol

  • I should have been clearer... PETEY IS A SHETLAND MINIATURE CROSS! so is HE IS STRONG cuz he is PART SHETLAND!! he was fine... i was only on him for less than 30 seconds... NOT abuse... and if you dont like it...TOO BAD...hes not your pony...

  • I dont think sitting on it for this amount of time would hurt the pony. I owned a shetland for a bit (who was healthy and lived to be about 40) and occasionally I would sit on her and ride her for short bits e.g. just to the field. But obviously any prolonged amount of time on a mini wouldnt be good as thered be a lot of pressure on the joints. Theyre strong for their size, but theyre not as strong as the sizes of horse most adults ride (I mean, we're sayin lke 10hh vs. 15-17hh right!)

  • i'm sorry but this is NOT animal abuse.

ponies are bloody strong for one, and two; if there was a pony this size which was fresh and excitable, would you stick a kid on it's back? no.

gorgeous horse, you have remarkable balance haha! if that was me, i'd be on the floor.

  • Hmm well mabe we shud report all the men and women who ride 750lb arabs cuz they are most likely over the limit! Never mind for their small stature they are extremely strong and um minis are bred from arabs! Oh n better not breed that class A mare to that class B stud cuz he is definately over her weight limit...or mabe she was on top;) its only abuse if ur leaving visible trauma to it or neglecting it. Get a life they have real cases of abuse to deal with not petty know-it all snobs with nothi

  • me and my bro tried riding my mini horse today. We were only on for about 5 min. Will this hurt her back if we do it occasionally?

  • its a damn animal you animal lover wierdos....dont eat meat its a dead cow omfg...whats the difference blah blah dont breathe theres germs wahh wahh iots the end of the world cuz its 1 more degreee hotter out now

  • god people are so stupid. this IS abuse. miniature ponies and shetlands can take a lot of weight, but miniature HORSES can not.

  • @TheKimy1996 i used to think the same til i went to my friends house to rid her 3 ft mini and im like 5 ft. we would canter it and i would stop bc i didnt wanna hurt it. then i would jump it over a sled and i understand that im not hurting it that lil horse jumped four feet bc we messered it so its not hurting the pony.

  • pooooooooooooorrrr pony =C

  • I'm going to say this in general, as there are too many 'comment at's' here.

    a) Just because a pony carries you, it doesn't mean it's supposed to carry you, or it's healthy for them. Those 20% bodyweight-rules aren't there for nothing, or found out for the sky around us.

    b) Giving the pony some exercize on the long lines will clear its energy as well and is good for your own stamina as well. Why do people always have to actually sit on ponies before they can like them?!
