I'll admit that trying to learn SKIF & the JKA kata Jiin is confusing because the differences are minor but none the less tricky at speed. However I'm not an advocate of criticising system one system over another and I've trained both JKA & SKIF methods. My best advice is to selection which Jiin you prefer & stay with it.
I congratulate you that you are a believer of Kanazawa, I started to see his katas, he had or has wonderful movements, but if he changes some positions or movements instead beeing shotokan why don´t jhe change the name to a new style, like Kanazawa Kan?
I don't beleive in streetfighting, if you have the knowledge of a good karate (means that you practice the way it has to be), you can win easily a streefighting in just on punch.
I lived in Mexico and I had to fight a few times in the street, iI did not started the fight, that people came to me, they wanted to steele me (sorry for my bad english)
And that is why I said that about Kanazawa. He forgot the tradition.
Maybe you are right, but In my nearly 34 years practicing karate-do and other martial arts I noticed that the most important things in your practice, religion or whatever is the tradition.
Funakoshi Gichin was a great fighter, when you change tradition you change everything.
As I see Kanazawa sensei forgot the tradition, it remembers me that once I fought against people from Lima Lama an "eclectic" technic, he tried to fight and I repeat the word tried.
@posternak1959 i understand your opinion on the tradition thing but if you research deeply enough you will notice somethings dont add up. check the lineage of the katas that master Funakoshi knew and how he taught them to Nakayama, Okazaki and others and you will realize that not even Funakoshi himself knew all the moves and what they meant because every one does the katas differently. change is not so bad if it makes better sense.
what dan you need to be to learn jiin?

Kanazawa Sensei forgot the tradition and changed some moves of all the katas, like jiin, meikyo and others.
He may be a very good martial artist, but you mhst not change tradition just because you feel you are the best.
Master Funakoshi decided how to do the katas and no Kanazawa.
