So it doesn't promote date-rape why? Because she wakes up again? Not enough. You have to gain the magic word - consent, if you don't have it, it is rape. Also, there are plenty of legitimate criticisms made of many violent movies. In order to make criticisms of one thing must one then criticise ever other bad thing in the world in order to make it legitimate?
The only humor, which is to be expected in a comedy movie, is derived from the bizarre nature of Anna Faris's comment, and this was written to show how big of a disconnect there is between Seth Rogan and the rest of the world.
I understand your concern, but sometimes things are done for artistic reasons, and not simply to be offensive.
Just a tip, you may want to change the info part for this video and any others that have the Logitech QuickCam blurb. Because all you get in the related videos is stuff about the Logitech Quickcam.
That being said, I'm torn on this issue. You make a few good points, but on the other hand, it's comedy. Lowest common denominator comedy, maybe, but comedy nonetheless. It just seems not that there are bigger fish to fry, but you're going for the smallest fish in the pond.
I think a central issue is, as stated in this video, that her consent (or not) is ambiguous, and that, being very drunk, she is not able to give clear consent. it seems that this scene glamourises such a situation as presents it as an ideal situation for young men to find themselves in, and this is very negative.
Where do you think sexism comes from? Where do you think people get the idea that it's OK to rape women? They don't just pull it out of thin air. It is reinforced in movies like this. Sexism in the media is an important issue. It might be THE most important issue. It's where everything starts.
Yeah, and if she hadn't worn slutty clothing, or gone out on a date with a guy, or left her house, or had the stupidity to be born a woman she wouldn't have gotten raped either. I wouldn't be surprised if those were the things you told yourself in order to justify raping women, you sick fuck.
But she was obviously so drunk that she couldn't possible have given meaningful consent. Even if she agree to the sex beforehand, she was still out of her mind, and thus this is technically rape.
No. Violence is seen as much more black and white. People are taught very early on that it's wrong. I'm not totally absolving violent movies, but rape is different. As this video points out, a lot of guys (and girls) are very confused on what constitutes consent. This movie further confuses them by showing a drunk, unconscious girl giving "consent." Rogen even said in an interview that her drunken mumbling made the scene "OK." People don't need reinforcement on this awful idea.
There's a certain exploitative and even predatory nature to this. This surely turns on some men who purchase the DVD's. Thing is, while some of this isn't real because some of the women are paid strippers or adult actresses, some of it is real. Then you have men thinking it's real and still fantasize about it. Then they may think it's okay to treat women like this because some of it really is real. It's like a subtle message telling men it's okay to have this attitude. Then there are the Axe ads
