I compiled photos of mine from the area where 40,000 converged on July 31, 2010. To do so, agricultural land was trampled on. They say they left things cleaner than they found it. And that's true, if you consider dispatching a farmer and various species to be a way of cleaning up.
This was a project in which LifeBridge, a church that has engendered a lot of negative feelings in Longmont, appears to have had a role. The land they "own" was not enough, but they did not want to use a venue suitable to the crowd they recruited.
And to all this, one of their organizers arrogantly calls this area "spiritually dry". They seemed bitter about not having gotten the Catholic church on board with their project, which suggests that they are not only ignorant about habitat but about theology, as well.
The Times-Call publisher backs this project and hopes it will become a permanent fixture. Again, does arrogance trump ignorance? Or does it even matter?
@jbfcm65 Thanks. I felt really sad about having to make it -- and not having spent some real time to do it. It was a quick and dirty (only about 2 hours) based on stills I already had. No great production values like your recent efforts :)
