I just subbed in a classroom today where the pupils said that niche was pronounced "nitch" because their teacher pronounced it that way. I told them that most Americans do say "nitch", but we Americans mispronounce many many words. I informed them that niche is a French word and pronounced "neesh". Probably none of them will pronounce it my way. Helen O'Boyle
