@telemetry9 So you tell me the solution. Should we built high pollution coal / oil plants? Or perhaps we should built some of those lovely nuclear plants, aka disasters waiting to happen. Sure you don't think we third worlders don't deserve our share of power,do you? Until we can use those secrets "free energy" technologies, no matter what approach we take, we're gonna hurt the planet in our search for power. :(

@telemetry9 Plus of course the Guaíra Falls were destoryed aswell, the largest waterfall on earth by flow.

@telemetry9 But without Itaipu, I coudn`t be reading and responding your comment right now, cause my state`s energy comes mostly from it.

This is not a wonder - it is a disaster. The water is chemically changed by the filtering process that occurs in the reservoir. Heavy metals accumulate in the reservoir that the river delta would have cleansed.
River life begins to die in the much lower temperatures of dam release water and fish migration is effectively ended by the dam.
The water that eventually finds its way into the ocean is insidiously polluted by the reservoir and dam - thereby polluting the oceans on a vast scale.

It is true!!!!

The truth is that the paraguay sucks.

It's not Paraguayan, it's was build by the both Brazil and Paraguay. The official name is Itaipu Binacional (Binational).

Hi, Itaipu should be pronounced like ee-tye-POO, and the river's name is pah-rah-NAH, not pah-RAN-na. :)
Sorry for being picky, lol. BTW, nice series of clips!
