  • I have one question. I've been doing this 4 exercises for 7 days now. Each exercise for approx 15 mins, which is around 1 h total each day. I've came all the way to 169 bpm on first exercise and I was really careful about not playing it sloppy, playing it on clean channel, raising only 1 bpm and feeling comfortable while doing it ( no tension). But today I can't even play it on 160 bpm without tension and it's pretty sloppy as well. My forearm feels really worn out. What is your suggestion?

  • @P0tjeh You guessed it, your forearm is probably just worn out. Just give it a little rest and I am sure your speed will come back. Probably better than before. :)

  • Amazing videos you have ;)

One question, when I'm picking I should use more the wrist than the arm, right ? My speed will increase better if I use my wrist instead of my arm ?

  • @NunoDuarte7 Hey thanks for watching. To answer your question, yes most of the motion should be coming from the wrist. Try to keep it loose while at the same time using as small of a stroke as possible. :)

  • Wow, awesome! Finally some cool patterns to repeat. This 3 string method is the best thing since sliced bread.

  • @guitartillidie Yeah its always fun to get those fingers movin every once in a while!! :)

  • @P0tjeh I hope you read my comment ;)

  • @GuitarLessons365 I have one tip, or commen to this question ... you may try to start correcting your picking by using only your WRIST (I play like that) and the optimum thing would be doing what Malmsteen does ... minimum wrist + thumb movement ... that´s for me, the perfect right picking hand of the world (Respect to Paul Gilbert as well, of course)

  • @Eversmen Its got 18 coats of laquer on it.

  • @Kabku i use my bathtub's dripping water on a metal plate, and adjust the water pressure accordingly. It still works, though

  • @Stabiiliize Have you been making sure you're trying to go faster? Like, with a metronome?

  • thanks....you have helped me...

  • after 2 weeks of doing this 15 minutes a day, i still pick really slow.

  • looking at good quitar players, looking at paul guilbert and simply cannot believe it is possilbe!

  • cant believe it is possible!

i always get it as two fast 3-plets on each string and a clear lag when I jump over a string in order to keep alternating!

Why using alternate instead of economy in cases when it fits perfect?

Maybe using alternate as the only option available when you cannot use economy and develop a hybride style?

I mean, I am always late a bit, when jumping over a string to keep alternate.

Sometimes I even slightly hit the string jumped over, and it is not smooth at all

  • i can see my reflection in that fret-board. hahaha xD

  • Joe Barden pickups perhaps? I have those in my strat, and they are absolutely magical.

  • hello.. i've been playing guitar for 5 years but my alternate pick still can't function while do riff for the 6th and 4th string play... any suggestion?

  • Dimarzio Air norton S??? COOL!!!

  • @TheDailyDigest hahah what sucks?

  • @mattRRgraham1996 this SUCKS D:

  • @bubafoo Just relax them. the only fingers holding the pick are the index and thumb. just relax the rest :)

  • ok we all know you came from the matrix

  • I have looked all over and cannot find the pdf for this. Can you point me in the right direction please?

  • question, someone answer please. This is a good exercise for the pick and I started our fingerpicking and got that down pretty good so now Im going to the pick. When doing this exercise I hold my middle finger back because I dont like my fingers im not using to hit the strings, but Im holding it back for so long it starts to hurt, should I be using another technique?

  • @theDailyDigest I'm having the same problem!! except with mr crowley!!!! I can practically play the entire thing but that!! please any1 who reads this please help

  • this is great, but i can't find any exercises for a specific type of picking! Such as when you're playing 2 strings and going back and forth really fast, how can you alternate pick the 2 strings fast without hitting the other string? like on the songs TBDM - The Blackest Incarnation, Black Valor

  • Start with mini humbuckers = Win

  • @dc08bfmv Slow yourself down when you practise and don't move up the speed until you feel your arm is relaxed at that speed. Increase the speed until you can play at your desired speed with minimal tension.

  • @IllusionalGuitarist Well, your hands sound bigger than mine and I'm pretty comfortable with wide stretches and big chords. If your picking hand is faster than your fretting hand, slow it down to the speed of your fretting hand. Being synchronised is 1000 times more beneficial than having one fast hand and one useless hand. Start at a really low bpm and build it up gradually over the weeks, it'll be much more useful than trying to force one hand catch up with the other!

  • Hi there i'm having significant trouble trying to keep my left hand hitting the frets as fast as my picking, which im very fast at, the problem im having is that i think my hands might be too small, or my fingers aren't strong enough, could you offer advice? my middle finger is the longest at about 4-5 inches
