Jim Eanes - In His Arms I'm Not Afraid

One of the best songs written by Jim is this gospel song which he recorded several times following popular demand. The first time he recorded in March 1970 accompanied by the Shenandoah Valey Quartet and issued on County Records 726. Then he recorded the song together with Bobby Atkins and the Countrymen in the mid 80's. It was issued on Old Homestead Records and the record contains a couple of other Jim Eanes hits from his formative years like Old Standby, I Cried Again, Wiggle Worm Wiggle and Little Brown Hand. The third recording he made of the song was done for Rebel Records on August 5 1988 and issued on the LP Let Him Lead You, a beautiful gospel LP.

For Jim this was also one of his most favorite songs, if not his biggest, from how I felt it when he introduced it when I played guitar for him during his shows in Europe. beautiful song! This is my Mom's favorite song ~ she told me years ago that she wants it played at her funeral. I listened to the words and can't think of a better one for a believer in Jesus.
