2 x 65 = 130 not 125. These amps have a 12AX7 tube in the pre-amp (Only 1 not the plural) with a solid state power amp. These things are LOUD. Great chorus. Average reverb. Great AC/DC sound. Not good for really heavy sound. Can achieve heavy with high output pickups but better crunch sound. The clean is quite good. I have owned one since new when I bought it in the mid to late 90's (I can't remember when exactly). Great for the budget guitarist who couldn't be bothered with the worry of tubes.
@mattm465 What Guitar did you use? My VS265 has a Digitech GNX running true it and the sound is mindblowing with a (real) Fender strat single coil. It sounds like al milliondollar setup. Had a couple of amps over the years from el cheapo's to the better stuff but this is the best and it's affordable too on the second hand market these days. My Ibanez with humbuckers gives me feedback for ages.
@mattm465 It sounds like kicking your ass. I can only advice people fiddle around with it. There's a PDF on the net with all the settings (for Humbuckers and single coils alike). This Marshall is one hell of an Amp compared to more modern amps(Had I Line 6 Spider III to compare it with). Maybe the name "Valvestate" can be misleading 'cause it has nothing to do with valves. The philosophy was to create an amp that sounded like a valveamp not to be one.
I used to own a VS265R, and let me tell you it kicked ass. Sold it so I could get all the money for our downpayment on our house. Pisses me off cuz it was hot, and the clean with the chorus was just sweet!!!!! Bad ass amp, never heard anything with the tone this one has!!!!!!!!!!
Well it is a marshall good amps.
but marshal sucks now anyway. it is taking over by a japanese company -.-
