Six BNSF C44-9Ws pull an extra long Z train eastbound near Wilburn at MP122.8 on 6-30-09. These days, BNSF has resorted to combining shorter trains into monsters like these to save money. The train has just entered a long cut in the earth that was dug out to keep the grade out of the river valley at a reasonable 0.6%. This line was built as the Gulf,California,& Santa Fe in 1886-1887.
