I Work In An Office (But I'd Rather Be In Comedy)

Put on my suit and moved into Waterfront Place
Touched down with the banking and finance group
Knowing little of what it pays
Uni's behind me, got a UQ law degree
Yeah, I got my first class honours
Yet I'm brewing the firm's coffee

And now I work in an office
I work while I complete my PLT
I work in an office
But I would rather be in comedy

Emailed a joke 'bout lawyers
That I told once at UQ
It took me right back to my days of actin'
When I did the Law Revue
Now, the HR reps they did not see it
But they saw it on YouTube
And now I'm on the legal scene
Living out my dream
Down in the copy room

Yeah, now I work in an office
I work inside a box of concrete and steel
I work in an office
But dream of slipping on banana peels

They hold karaoke parties
That are dull and no-one cares
But karaoke is not the theatre scene
When you have comedic flair

I've got so much more flair than this office

In the foyer, there's a piano
I'd try to play if I ever could
And someone caught me howling Chopsticks
But they said that I was good
So I, I did a little dance move
And I heard their laughter rise
I asked "Why did the lawyer cross the road?
To get to the other side!"
