When you get the Neodymium magnets who takes them? The scrap places around where I live have never heard of them. I have always recycled the aluminum. Thanks!

seems like it woulda been easier to just take the screws out and use up that testosterone in some other way

every time a hard drive dies, the hard drive is scrapped for magnets. Older hard drives tend to have bigger magnets.

I have an old hard drive I don't use anymore, now I want to tear it apart. Looks fun!

Spending 2 hours hitting something with a hammer and prying things with a screw driver is not the "easy way". Invest in the right tools and save yourself some time.

@dwatson4 Yea, I was wondering also. All that work and he doesn't say what to use them for.
Upon deeper destruction of hard drives I discovered that there are also 2 little square magnets surrounding the laser inside the laser housing. :)

@xIIxRUExIIx Yes...on CD/DVD rom drives. No laser in hard drive. I didn't include CD/DVD drives cause there's a different set of parts to look for there.

@xIIxRUExIIx That is a pretty boring video, microchips are a complex animal...takes much study to figure out which ones are worth it. I have had success selling used chips, just takes time and effort. I'll work on trying to get that vid out, as non-boringly as possible...
