Once the bundles are strapped, they enter into the Winrob III Palletizer System. The Palletizer System is capable of handling 35 tied bundles per minute and 25 untied bundles per minute. An option for 45 tied bundles per minute is also available. The system is comprised of the Bundle Conveyor System [BCS], the Winrob III Palletizer, the Pallet Conveyor System [PCS] and the PSW 2001 Stretch Film Wrapper. The SPS Palletizer Control System is integrated with the SMS master control system for a seamless transfer of information.

The latest technology frequency control motors are utilized on the row conveyor, layer conveyor, layer loader, fork unit and slipsheet feeder. When four bundles are accumulated on the row conveyor, the entire row is diverted to the layer conveyor. When the layer conveyor accumulates three rows of four bundles, the layer table drops, exposing the bundle support pegs, which now hold all of the bundles in place. The forks extend between the bundle support pegs underneath the bundles, pick up the entire layer and place it on the unfinished pallet. Prior to placing the layer on the pallet, the fork unit squeezes out any air remaining in the bundles. Side frames on the fork unit compress the layer and square the bundles. The fork unit recedes and returns to the home position to pick up the next completed layer. A slip sheet is automatically applied to the top of the last layer of bundles palletized. The slip sheet cassette is portable, can be refilled in seconds and rolls back into place without any interruption in production. The system is capable of producing an odd count pallet, or the amount of bundles remaining can be divided between the last two pallets to prevent a smaller quantity of bundles on one pallet. The system is also capable of producing hybrid pallets of mixed zones if the bundle sizes are similar. When the completed pallet exits the palletizer, an empty pallet is automatically dispensed onto the pallet conveyor system, and the palletization process is repeated.

The Pallet Stretch Film Wrapper [PSW] operates independently from the palletizer. If the wrapper malfunctions, the palletizer will not shut down. The pallet always remains stable. The plastic is stretched around the pallet. The height of the wrap and the number of windings is variable. The wrapper can be bypassed when palletizing untied bundles destined for the inserting operation.

The Pallet Conveyor System [PCS] operates similar to the BCS. Photo eyes track the progress of each pallet. Each unit is controlled by a frequency drive to allow for soft start and stop to ensure that the pallet gets a smooth ride from the palletizer to the wrapper and from the wrapper to its final destination.

The Pallet Labeler can automatically apply a label onto each or either side of the finished pallet which identifies the contents and the destination.
