In this episode, I walk you through the process of dry hopping your homebrewed beer. While this is the method I use, this is definitely not the only correct way of dry hopping your beer. If you are interested in these homebrew videos, please leave a comment below telling me what tutorials you would like me to post in relation to homebrewing.

  • wow thats super cheap nylon bags for mini mashing! right on brother thanks for letting me know where to get those! i usually buy mine from a brewing wbsite but not anymore. Josh

  • @jman452 Thanks, they work great.

  • Good luck. Can't wait for taste time.

  • @pinkync Me neither! Seems like it is taking FOREVER!

  • For a double IPA rye IPA or normal IPA I don't think its overkill to use 2 oz or even 3 oz in the dry hop. I think 4 oz is overkill in most cases. Personally I just toss the hop pellets in there no bag no nothing. They start floating on top and sink to the bottom in 3-5 days.

  • @Tantrum777 I agree that I probably could have used all the hops, but I wanted to see how the kit was with just a small amount of tweaking. If this recipe goes well, I will definitely up the hops in the next batch.

  • You must be mad sanitizing! It will kill your yeast and you might not be able to condition! Just dip it in boiling water dude

  • interesting method; the sanitizing could be done before adding the hops; I would just use hot water for this, no chemicals

  • have not racked to a secondary in years. If I dry hop, I will in the primary, and then bottle. The beer will clarify on its own in the primary. The yeast will take care of that.. I usually let it sit in the primary 3 no more than 4 weeks, and bottle. Beer are always clear. "Clarity Is Overarted" anyways. :)

  • i boil the paint strainer bags in water, they have sizing in the mesh from the manufacturing process.

i dry hopped 1 time in primary and didn't like the results, i got a plastic hop taste, now i dry hop in 2nd glass carboy with whole or plug hops no bag. 2 weeks primary, 1 week 2nd, then i dry hop 1-2 weeks, 1-4oz hops. i use a food safe rubber band and a small mesh bag on the auto siphon, works great no hops in my beer and its crystal clear......... BREW ON !

  • Nice video! I've done it similarly with the mesh bag, the only difference being I've used leaf hops.

  • I like that fermenter, especially the easy-open lid. Where'd you pick it up?

  • cool .............

  • Why not sanitize the bags before you add the hops?
