Mod to a generic dunlop crybaby for better performance. I was pretty surprised with how darn good the thing sounded after It was done. I realized
that after 68 Hendrix probably used the wah as a pre-set filter and mid booster as much as he used it for traditional wah purposes. Check it out !

changes "Q" resistor 33k to 100k ( Q )
1.5k input feed to 4.7k (Q & feedback)
1st transistor plate load from 22k to 100k (growl)
1st transistor bias resistor to from 470 to 390 ohm (gain)
2nd transistor bias from 10k to 8.2k (gain)
.22 cap that goes to the pot wiper to 1mfd

apologies for the slightly out of tune guitar...

have fun

  • Very nice, Pat! Just picked up a cheap wah and may dig in and give it a shot. Where would I get a fasel inductor (as opposed to a flux capacitor)?

  • @guitartonequest same place I did... dunlop sells them at your local music store ... you need to special order it but mine came in 1 week

  • Forgive me if you mention this in the vid, but what guitar/amp combo did you use? I should set up a camera and do some testing too. I have an RMC3 - would be interesting to compare with your modded wah.

  • @robinbowes traynor ygm3 either a MIJ strat with epic 56 pickups or a PRS with Motorcity Blackbelt II

  • Hey, can you give me any advice on using this mod with either the red or yellow fasel inductor? Would I need to tweak this mods, or is it probably ok to just keep the same changes? Sounds great!

  • great video. I'll be doing this very soon...any experience with the yellow fasel inductor, as opposed to the red?

  • Yeah, adding more resistance will bring up gain, but it seems to add noise as well. I like the unity gain type design. You could always just add a clean boost circuit to the output by using a jfet. I have an original Thomas Int. Corp. with the brown "stack of dimes" and it has a great sweep and vocal tone. It must be used in the first place in the signal chain though, and if run into a high impedance pedal/amp, you can leave it on all the time. The JEN needed the amp turned up to drown out sqeak

  • Hey can you talk about your vintage wah's that you have. Tell us the diffrrance between them and did you mod this wah to the vintage style ones you have. That will be a very cool vid. This one is cool too.
