This is a quick sample of the Canon HV40 and the Generic Anamorphic lens on Ebay (made in japan $115). It rained today so I couldn't shoot much, the weather was gloomy again. I was about 12 inches away from the turtle. Some quick color correction in FCP. The Generic Anamorphic lens is very good for the price. Hopefully tomorrow will be sunny and I can really test this out :)

  • Sorry, i'm new to lenses,

can i buy any anamorphic lens for my hv40? or is there a specific size?

can you also send me a link to a good anamorphic lens, my price range is up to $400-ish

  • @MilanProductionsInc Hi, sorry for the LATE reply becausee I haven't been on this channel in a long time. The HV40 thread size is 43mm so any anamorphic lens with that size will work the best. If you bought a diff size then you can buy step up or step down rings to attach it but if you eliminate the step rings to begin with, it will be much better. Hope this helps, you can also check HV20 (dot) com for more info.

  • Besides being anamorphic, is it also a wide angle lense?

  • @9ALLEN9 The difference between an anamorphic lens and a wide angle lens is that the anamorphic widens the width and the wide angle widens both width and height. So yes, the anamorphic is a wide angle on one axis.

  • Thanks and Happy New Year!

  • i really wanna see some of the anamorphic lens flares. that's my favorite thing about these lenses.

  • Happy New Year, and Happy Filming with your HV40!

  • Great test, this lens is looking very good for the HV40! If there is any chromatic aberration, it is minimal. I think this lens performs better with the HV40 (which has a 43mm lens) than with 52mm lens cameras.

If you get a chance to test, it would be interesting to see infinity focus with close subjects out of focus. And maybe testing bokeh on lights out of focus at night would be cool too.

Great test, thanks for sharing! :)
